His Job and Himself
When
I was in Berlin, I went to a German course. First day of course, I noticed
something clearly. First of all, I asked the front officer if I could change my
course time in any chance. He said, “sorry, you can not. We only have one
course in your level and that’s Nachmittag
(afternoon).” Alright then. The second time I asked him after ten minutes
interval, “sorry, I’m a DAAD awardee and where can I get the information about
my scholarship?” he answers very kindly, “oh you are? What’s your name and
where are you from? Unfortunately the person who is in charge isn’t at the
office now. But you can come here around 1 PM, right before your class starts.”
Of course I was so glad hearing that. The third time, I forgot to ask him one
more thing. It was about my Wi-Fi password on my apartment. For your kind
information, Germans say “WLAN” instead of “Wi-Fi”. I was confused too, no
problem. The third time I asked the front office staff and apparently he is
there again, “hello, first and foremost I wanted to say sorry because I
disturbed you many times today and asking you questions....” before I got the
chance to continue my sentence, he cut me and said, “oh, no problem. You don’t
need to worry about that. That is my job and that’s my duty, you can come and
ask me everything you need during your stay.”
I was like, OH-MY-GOD.
I
was really amazed by what he answered tho. In this stressful modern world,
there are still some good people who treat their costumers or clients really
well. What I learn about him that he treats everyone the same and he is always
doing his best. What makes him doing that? I have asked him and he said simply,
“well I love my job and that’s all about it.”
What
do you think about your job? Do you love your job? Do you feel irritate very
often when a client always disturbs you asking many questions? Don’t you really
think, that’s also a part of your job anyway.
